The Larlee Creek Hullabaloo is a not-for-profit outdoor music festival held annually each August in Perth-Andover, NB. August 9-13, 2017 we will gather for our 10th annual event. Our programming celebrates the incredible and culturally unique talents of East Coast musicians, including multiple artists with roots in our region. There are very few live performance opportunities for local and Atlantic Canadian musicians touring in this region of the province. Subsequently, local communities do not have an opportunity to support and/or are not familiar with East Coast artists, including those artists who call the River Valley home. Local music enthusiasts that do have an interest in the arts often have to leave Western NB to access live musical performances. Organizers of the Larlee Creek Hullabaloo are changing this trend. Our line up is deliberate, designed to promote the stories and experiences of Atlantic Canadians and reflect the diverse cultural heritage of our communities as expressed through the music and writing of our artists. We educate and engage our community in the arts through our programming, and through inclusion in every aspect of our festival.
We will launch a 5-day festival in 2017 consisting of over 30 performances, ranging in length from 20 – 90 minutes, both in the community and on festival grounds. The Larlee Creek Hullabaloo will provide over 30 hours of live entertainment engaging both the local artist and citizen in a variety of ways. Our programming includes a diverse multi-genre line up of individual and group performances, collaborative workshops , singer/songwriter circles, and children’s entertainment . Our festival includes primarily Canadian aspiring, emerging and accomplished musicians including multiple local and NB artists. We promote the original compositions of our musicians and seek emerging and accomplished artists who are actively performing their own work as we feel this is the most candid expression of their art and most sincerely represents their Atlantic Canadian experience.
Alumni of the Larlee Creek Hullabaloo include Matt Andersen, Garrett Mason, The Divorcees, Joel Leblanc, The Stanfields, Dave Gunning,Thom Swift, Rawlins Cross, David Myles, Dave Carroll, The Tom Fun Orchestra, Blackie and The Rodeo Kings and Ross Neilsen. Despite the established and award winning careers of many of our accomplished artists a portion of our audience will discover them, as well as our emerging artists, for the first time at our festival.
The Larlee Creek Hullabaloo organizing committee aims to broaden the opportunities for our East Coast Musicians as well as our attending audience. We anticipate an audience of 1500-2000 individuals at our upcoming event. To date our festival has attracted music enthusiasts from across Atlantic Canada, Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, United Kingdom and Maine. On site attractions audience workshops, local food vendors and artisans, merchandise tent and nearby camping.
